The Seahawks vs. Rams betting line for Week 1 of the 2015 NFL season had Seattle as a -3 road favorite.
The Seahawks enter this season looking perhaps even more impressive than the squad that played in last February’s Super Bowl. They acquired star tight end Jimmy Graham from New Orleans during the offseason. Defensively, no unit is more respected in the league. It returns all but one starter.
They will face a Rams team that could prove potent in 2015-2016. Nick Foles has joined St. Louis from Philadelphia. The Rams also have a new offensive coordinator in Frank Cignetti and a new quarterbacks coach in Chris Weinke. A strong running game should help Foles. The Rams also have an elite defense, one of the best in the league. At 9-1 odds of winning the division, St. Louis has tremendous value.
Improving in each of his first three seasons in the league, Russell Wilson finally broke out as an elite fantasy option at the quarterback position this past season as he finished sixth with an impressive 23.4 fantasy points per game.
Wilson did have an explosive 40-plus fantasy point game against the Rams in Week 7 on the road but we would not play him here as he’s only averaged around 15 fantasy points per three of the past four games against St. Louis.
Foles, who threw for an unbelievable 27 touchdowns with only two interceptions despite starting just 10 games in 2013, dropped off significantly last season and he will be joining an offense that features few big playmakers and, as such, typically lacks in fantasy production. Foles has yet to face Seattle.
Marshawn Lynch has put up good numbers against St. Louis at home but has fared poorly in St. Louis over the past two seasons on the fantasy front, putting up less than 10 fantasy points in both those games.
