(Gambling911.com News Wire) – South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham and Utah Republican Representative Jason Chaffetz this week introduced legislation that would ultimately ban most forms of Web gambling at the federal level.  But their bill has failed to gain much traction in either chamber of the U.S. Congress.

The measure is supported by billionaire and GOP mega donor Sheldon Adelson.  PennLive asked this week if Adelson is “the most powerful man in U.S. politics”.

For their part, Graham and Rubio say Adelson's influence has nothing to do with their support. They argue that the Obama administration acted beyond its bounds in 2011 when it issued a Justice Department memo clarifying its reading of the 1961 Wire Act, which historically has been used to police all forms of gambling.
