These races at held at Belle Isle in Detroit, Michigan. They races in2007 and in 2008 but didn’t race from 2009-2011 in Detroit but came back in 2012 when the duals started with Scott Dixon and Mike Conway winning the two races. Simon Pagenaud won in 2013 while Will Power and Helio Castroneves won last year. Belle Isle is a 2.34 mile circuit which features fast straights and hard braking zones.

Montoya Looks to Stay Hot

Juan Pablo Montoya won the Indianapolis 500 last week and he wants to stay hot in Detroit for owner Roger Penske. "Roger is a guy who really cares about the Indy 500 and so going to Detroit as the Indy 500 champion is a big deal and to be doing it with Roger makes it very special," Montoya said, "Detroit's a big deal for us. It's Roger's home race and Chevy's home race so it's a very important deal to run well." Montoya has two wins already this season and two other top-three finishes. The Indy 500 awards double points so Montoya is the now the leader in the point’s race. This weekend will be double points as well with races on Saturday and Sunday. "This two weeks is make or break for the year as far as going for the championship and I think it's pretty cool," said Montoya.

Even though Montoya has not done that well at Belle Isle as he finished 17th in 1999 and 18th in 2000 and 12th and 13th in last year's doubleheader he says he has done well in Detroit. "I won the pole one year and started second in the other," Montoya said, "I led the most laps of both races and they (team personnel) made bad calls on strategy and that's why I lost the races more than anything else."
