The 58-year-old managing director of German gaming device maker, Merkur Gaming, died suddenly from an apparent chest infection late last week, the company reported.

The death of Jens Halle was sudden and unexpected.

Halle was a longtime industry veteran, having held positions with Bally Technologies before moving to Austria’s Novomatic Group, according to the website CalvinAyre.com.

The Gauselmann Group, parent company of Merkur, released a statement expressing its “great sadness” at Halle’s untimely death and extended their “deepest sympathy” to Halle’s family.

“We will honor his memory,” the statement concluded.
