If you are looking to bet Saturday’s Preakness Stakes race online from a handful of US-based sites requiring your full social security number, you’re out of luck in states like New Jersey, Georgia and South Carolina.  But have no fear, there are alternative options.

BetUS is one of a few dozen online sportsbooks taking bets on this race.  In fact, it is widely considered among the top 10 most bet on single day sporting events annually.  In business since 1997 and part of a larger company that has operated since 1986, betUS does not require a social security number to join.

Some states like New Jersey, Georgia and South Carolina have passed laws prohibiting the likes of TwinSpires and TVG from taking bets in their respective jurisdictions for various reasons, sometimes in order to protect their own racing industry (New Jersey) or simply because the state does not offer horse racing.

Prohibited States Include:
Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Puerto Rico, The Virgin Islands.

TwinSpires.com and TVG.com also won’t take customers from Canada.
