Major League Baseball kicks off this week and we here at Gambling911.com are especially excited with a monster season anticipated for daily fantasy Baseball.  This is because so many folks will be dipping their toes in these contests for the very first time.  The strategies and scoring opportunities are relatively easy to understand.

Baseball is widely considered a “weak” sport in the world of bookmaking.  It’s not that the sport is unpopular.  Major League Baseball betting is complicated.

Instead of spreads, a wager wins when a team wins.  The problem lies in the high priced lines.  Ace pitchers are often listed at -160 and above.  This means you will have to lay $16 to win $10 (the $16 bet is returned assuming your team wins).

The best way to win big money with Baseball is through parlays where three or more teams have to all walk off with victories for your wager to pay out at high odds.  Again, this is more complicated than it sounds.

With Baseball betting, a pitcher can perform fantastic only to have the bullpen ruin it all.

Daily fantasy Baseball contests are less complicated though the math involved may at first glance appear intimidating.  Be sure to visit Gambling911.com daily for regular picks and strategies.

Below is the scoring found at one of the biggest daily fantasy websites DraftKings.com.

  • Hitters will accumulate points as follows:
    • Single = +3 PTs
    • Double = +5 PTs
    • Triple = +8 PTs
    • Home Run = +10 PTs
    • Run Batted In = +2 PTs
    • Run = +2 PTs
    • Base on Balls = +2 PTs
    • Hit By Pitch = +2 PTs
    • Stolen Base = +5 PTs
    • Caught Stealing = -2 PTs
  • Pitchers will accumulate points as follows:
    • Inning Pitched = +2.25 PTs
    • Strike Out = +2 PTs
    • Win = +4 PTs
    • Earned Run Allowed = -2 PTs
    • Hit Against = -0.6 PTs
    • Base on Balls Against = -0.6 PTs
    • Hit Batsman = -0.6 PTs
    • Complete Game = +2.5 PTs
    • Complete Game Shut Out = +2.5 PTs
    • No Hitter = +5 PTs

Rosters will consist of 10 players and must include hitters from at least 3 different MLB teams.

The 10 roster positions are: P, P, C, 1B/DH, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF

Obviously you will want to select players that are priced low with the potential to perform well versus the opposition.

With hitters one should look at results versus a particular starter.

The same holds true for pitchers.  Select one who has had luck against most of the opposing hitters.

There are plenty of great stats associated with Baseball and it is for this reason that the sport has long enjoyed popularity among season-long fantasy enthusiasts.
