D Las Vegas Owner Bet $1 Million on MSU Spartans

D Las Vegas owner Derek Stevens has $1 million riding on the Michigan State Spartans to win this year’s NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

The bet was placed on December 5 prior to MSU’s loss to Texas Southern and before going 4-3 during their Big Ten schedule.  The Spartans also lost at home to Illinois and Minnesota.

Stevens didn’t place the $20,000 wager at his own Detroit-themed establishment.  Instead he had to go to the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino where sportsbook director Tony Miller eventually granted permission via the company big bosses.

The 50-1 odds ensure a $1 million pay day should MSU go on to win it all.
