The €10k EPT Deauville High Roller is down to just nine players with Russia’s Nikolay Komcharokov in the lead on 1,145,000. Prior to arriving in Deauville, Komcharokov’s only one live recorded cash was €605 for a tourney in Dublin.
He gave his Hendon Mob page a welcome boost at the start of the EPT Deauville Poker Festival though by finishing 11th in the €2k NL Turbo for €4,180. Now, just a few days later, he’s chip leader in a €10k after winning his seat in a live satellite. He’s now guaranteed at least €22,110 and in with the chance of winning €309,170 (and definitely getting a third cash on this Hendon Mob page). However he has some fierce competition if he wants to take this tourney down: EPT10 London champion Robin Ylitalo has a monster stack just 2k shy of a million while Argentina’s Ivan Luca is currently third with 944k. French veteran Jean-Noel Thorel, who has been playing EPTs – and Deauville in particular – since the dawn of time, has 912k while Portugal’s Joao Ribeiro has 866,000. Former chip leader Eric Sfez, also no stranger to the Normandy coast in the depths of winter, has 619k. Thomas Butzhammer has 475k, Fady Kamar is on 218k and four players will be back at noon with less than four big blinds: Josip Simunic (73k), Davidi Kitai (65k), Garret Gruener (16k) and former chip leader Tobias Peters with just 5k (also known as “less than two antes”).

TROYNOVSKIY, VIEIRA AND KITAI THRASH IT OUT FOR EPT PLAYER OF THE YEAR AT FIN-DE-DEAUVILLE After taking down the FPS High Roller event the other night for €141,000 (and also slipping in a Main Event cash – seriously, where does he find the time?), the indefatigable Vladimir Troyanovskiy is – as previously mentioned - now leading the EPT Player of the Year race. It’s tough at the top though. Joao Vieira, who had been heading up the rankings since EPT London, has now “slipped” (1.72 point difference) to second place while EPT Berlin champion/Triple Crown winner Davidi Kitai, who won the festival's €2k NL Turbo for €45,930, is now in third place. HOWEVER – hold your horses! - because Kitai is still in the EPT Deauville €10k High Roller (albeit with less than four big blinds) AND it’s high-stakes Turbo-fest at Deauville today with a €2k NL Turbo and €5k NL Turbo both on the schedule.
