The ever controversial Irish-based bookmaker Paddy Power is said to be paying David Ginola, a L’Oreal Shampoo spokes model, $380,000 to run for FIFA President.

“This campaign is all about transparency and we are paying David £250,000 (nearly $380,000) for the campaign and for being here today,” a spokesman for Irish bookmaker Paddy Power told Reuters at a press conference on Friday. “It is his full-time job now and, hopefully, will be for the next four months.”

Reporters posed questions to Ginola (pictured above), who did not appear to know much about FIFA.

Paddy Power made a name for itself worldwide after sponsoring former NBA star Dennis Rodman’s trip to North Korea.  In the past the company has featured a “Sin Bin” for betting outside Papal events and more recently came under fire for what most agreed to be a tasteless wagering promo tied in with the Oscar Pistorius murder trial.  One of its ads featured a caption “Will He Walk?”.  Pistorius is a paraplegic Olympian runner.
