Chicago Cubs fans don't despair.  Your team is a bigger favorite to win the 2009 World Series than are the reigning champion Philadelphia Phillies.  The Cubs would pay $445 at Bookmaker.com for every $100 bet.  The Phillies would pay $530 for every $100 bet.

Once again it is the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox that come in as the annual early favorites along with the Cubs.  Each pay just over $400 for every $100 bet.

"The great thing about betting baseball futures early on is that any of these teams could end up winning," says Gambling911.com Senior Editor, Payton O'Brien.  "There is not a whole lot of consistency over the years compared to other sports like the NFL or NBA."

Case in point:  It was just a few years ago that the Florida Marlins paid out $100,000 to some lucky gambler who had a $1000 future bet on the team.  In fact, this one was placed mid season.

Odds to win the 2009 World Series appear below - all courtesy of Bookmaker.com, the oldest established online sportsbooks, taking bets from North America since 1985.  Be sure to claim your 20 percent deposit bonus (open with $500, receive a free $100).  Restrictions do apply.

How to read the odds:  +1050 means that a $100 bet would pay out $1050.  A $1000 bet would pay out $10,500 and so on.
