Both schools had ranked among the top 10 early in the season then came unraveled.  Notre Dame in particular lost five of their last six games leading to a 7-5 Straight Up record, this after a 6-0 start.  They only paid out in five games on the season.  LSU fared somewhat better, ending the season 8-4 both Straight Up and Against The Spread.

The Fighting Irish are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games after allowing more than 40 points in their previous game and have not fared well in Bowl games Against The Spread.  They are just 2-6.  The Tigers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 non-conference games.
