DraftKings Outage Could Not Have Come at Worst Possible Time: Refunds Promised

One of the world’s largest daily fantasy sports sites, Draftkings.com, experienced a disastrous power outage on Sunday during Week 12 of the NFL.  The company is expected to lose hundreds of thousands of dollars as a result.  Worse still, Draftkings.com advertised throughout Sunday’s NFL games.

The issues were deemed as “Connectivity Issues” apparently starting just minutes before the early afternoon games.

The following updates appeared on the Draftkings.com website:

November 23, 2014 12:58PM EST

[Investigating] We are aware of the current issues. Our technical team is investigating at this time. More updates to come in 15 minutes.

November 23, 2014 1:03PM EST

[Identified] Issue has been isolated and our tech team is working to ensure stability.

November 23, 2014 1:06PM EST

[Monitoring] We are currently monitoring the the issue and more updates will follow in the next 15-20 minutes.

[Monitoring] If you wish to cancel any of your entries we will remove them from your contests for you, however, you must email support@draftkings.com by 3PM EST. All voided entries will not be subject to any prize winnings, your entry fee(s) will be refunded and your lineup will be removed from the contest(s).

[Monitoring] We are no longer fielding any requests for canceling lineups at this time. If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact support@draftkings.com . We will post an update shortly on when users can expect to see lineups removed and entry fees refunded to their account.

[Monitoring] All lineups will be removed and refunds will be processed prior to the conclusion of the Monday Night Football game. Please expect delayed response times from our customer support team during this process and for all updates please continue to monitor this page.

Draftkings has recently entered into major partnership deals with a handful of NFL teams including the New England Patriots.

It was not immediately known what caused the outage or if it had fully been rectified.
