The Houston Rockets 2014 – 2015 betting odds to win the NBA Championship were set at 18-1 at BetDSI.com.

With sharpshooter James Harden and dominating big man Dwight Howard the Rockets have the foundation of a team that should contend for the Western Conference championship.

The offseason was not without disappointment as the Rockets went hard for Miami star Chris Bosh who decided to stay home with the Heat instead.  One bright note is that “Linsanity” is now over as Jeremy Lin was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers and Omer Asik also departed the Rockets while Trevor Ariza was the only noteworthy addition in the past offseason.

Head coach Kevin McHale enters his third year on the job facing the most roster turnover of any 2014 Western Conference playoff team.  McHale ran his top players into the ground in their playoff series with Portland with just seven players getting significant playing time as the roster lacks the depth needed to get through the grind of the 82 game NBA regular season and the playoffs that follow.

Harden has been the model of consistency over the past two years as he has averaged 25.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 1.7 steals per game in that span.  The one criticism of Harden has been his tendency to shrink under the hot spotlight of the clutch and disappear when needed most.
