The University of Alabama-Birmingham is conducting an investigation into one of its players after reports surfaced last week that FSU star Jameis Winston may have taken part in a point-shaving scheme.

One of UAB’s own players, defensive end Chris Rabb, has been implicated in the report as having conspired with Winston.

Rabb, a former High School teammate of Winston’s, is said to have shared a gambling account with the Florida State football player since the beginning of October.  This information comes from his supposed bookie, who is said to have had no knowledge of Winston's connection with Rabb approached him about setting up active wagering account.

The story was first featured on IBN Sports and includes alleged betting slips as the smoking gun.  None of the accused parties had responded to the reports over the weekend as more media outlets picked up on the story.

“We’re are aware of the allegation and looking into the matter,” UAB athletic director Brian Mackin said in a statement Friday, Al.com reported. “That is the only comment we will have at this time.”

Florida State is yet to announce it has launched an investigation.
