Las Vegas City Council members approved 26 medical marijuana dispensaries, one of which will be operated by poker phenom Phil Ivey.

They approved 26 pot dispensaries, more than double the number set aside for the city by Nevada regulators, the Las Vegas Review Journal reported.  Ivey and the others await a final go-ahead from the state health department.

Ivey wasn’t the only familiar name among the dispensary applicants.  Other notables approved for a city pot permit include restaurateur Michael Morton, downtown entrepreneur Michael Cornthwaite, developer James Hammer, former state Sen. Mark James and political consultant David Thomas.
