ESPN.com has released their 2014 Week 2 Top Fantasy NFL Wide Receivers breakdown with Denver’s Demaryius Thomas, Detroit’s Calvin Johnson and Cincinnati’s A.J. Green topping the list.

ESPN.com says of Thomas: “As the clear-cut No. 1 wideout on the best offense in football, Thomas has zero downside.”

Well, there was some downside on Sunday night when the Broncos number one receiver caught four passes for 48 yards on a team-high 11 targets in Week 1.  That’s not particularly impressive.

SBNation.com writes of Thomas’s Fantasy impact: “Some owners are likely panicking at the sight of Thomas' stat line for Week 1. Those are exactly the people you want to get in touch with over the next week. If there was ever an opportunity to buy low on Thomas, this is it.”

ESPN.com offered this analysis of Calvin Johnson: “Since 2010, Johnson has an NFL-best 22 touchdown receptions on deep passes and leads the league in receptions (123) and receiving yards (3,359) on such throws during that span. Even as Johnson faces a Panthers secondary that surrendered the third-fewest fantasy points to the position in 2013, it's pretty clear you will be starting this guy.”

AJ Green, meanwhile, won the game for the Bengals with his 77 yard touchdown grab in the 4th quarter, capping off his 16th career 100-yard effort.

ESPN suggests that “the Falcons' below-average defense will have no answer for the superstar WR on Sunday”.

Julio Jones, Jordy Nelson, Dez Bryant, Antonio Brown, Brandon Marshall, Andre Johnson and Randal Cobb round out the rest of ESPN.com’s 2014 Week 2 Top Fantasy NFL Wide Receiver rankings.
