Houston Texans Odds to Win 2014 AFC South and Why Your Team Sucks

The Houston Texans odds of winning the 2014 AFC South were set at 3/1, which in our humble opinion offer little in the way of any value considering the Colts should win this division easily.  The best odds on Houston might very well be their win totals, coming in at OVER/UNDER 7.5 and the OVER is priced at -135.  The UNDER does have the value at +115, paying $115 for every $100 bet at BetDSI.com.

It’s hard to believe looking back that plenty of folks had Houston as their future bet to win the 2014 Super Bowl.  Two wins and fourteen straight losses later we are all left scratching our heads.  Why?

Matt Schaub was just so good in 2012.  What happened?

Well, we don’t know exactly nor does it matter since he’s now gone but he can’t shoulder all the blame.  A good chunk of that 2013 squad is still going to take to the field this season.

Long time Texans head coach Gary Kubiak is out of there too, finally.

In his place, Bill O'Brien, who coached two years at Penn State where he went a very unimpressive 15-9.

And why might your Houston Texans suck in 2014?

”Don't worry, that record translates into 20-4 in non-diddling years,” writes Drew Magary of DeadSpin.com.

Oh, and then there’s the new starting quarterback situation, and it ain’t pretty.

“You do not have a quarterback. Your team forgot to get one. It's like when I come home with $100 worth of groceries from the store and somehow I forget to include anything that can be made into a proper dinner. Happens at least once a week.”

Well, they do have one.  But it’s Ryan Fitzpatrick.  He’s already been with four different teams but is best remembered for his starting role with the Buffalo Bills where he finished the 2011 season with 3,832 yards and 24 touchdowns, but threw a league-leading 23 interceptions.

“You have J.J. Watt, Andre Johnson, Jadeveon Clowney, Arian Foster, and Johnathan Joseph on this team. How the fuck can you sit there and let those studs go into a full season with Ryan FitzHarvard at the helm? It's malpractice, is what it is.”

Maybe the first overall number one in the NFL Draft Jadeveon Clowney will have an immediate impact coupled with some of the aforementioned talent, but the quarterback and head coach situation suggests otherwise.
