Bookies are plentiful in the San Antonio, Texas area as are sports bars where they typically congregate.  Think the Ticket Sports Pub, Freetail Brewing Company and the Lion and the Rose franchise.  Need a bookie in this region?  PayPerHead can help

When most of us think San Antonio and sports, the first team that comes to mind is the 2014 NBA Championship Spurs.  But College Football is huge in this region with San Antonio residents loving their Aggies.  Texas A&M has performed well in recent years and that only helps to fuel wagering activity.

Texas, like in most US states, bookmaking is illegal.  It is a Class A misdemeanor and punishable by either fines or some jail time or a combination of both.

We have had a few bookies targeted in the San Antonio area in recent years.

Richard Lee, the sixth-place finisher in the 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event, comes to mind. He faced a negotiated misdemeanor charge of "gambling promotion" back in 2006.  There was a raid on his San Antonio home resulting in the seizure of millions of dollars in property.  Lee himself forfeited $2.2 million.

The District Attorney's Office said those who gambled with Lee committed no crime and will not be charged with anything.
