The Iowa Corn Indy 300 takes place on Saturday with Will Power the top choice. Power and Helio Castroneves are tied at the top of the driver standings heading into this race that can be seen on NBCSN. Neither driver has ever won a championship but the two drivers are teammates and friends so they will continue to help one another. Castroneves lost the championship last year in the final race of the season while Power finished second in 2010, 2011 and in 2012. It could come down to Power and Castroneves at the end of this season.
Here is a look at Saturday's race and IndyCar predictions.
Penske Teammates
Unlike what is going on in Formula One with teammates Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, the two Penske drivers in IndyCar get along well. "It's one of those unusual things about racing," Castroneves said. "There aren't many sports where people on the same team are competing against each other. Usually teammates are working together to achieve the same goal as a group. But in racing your teammates are also your competitors." Last week it was Castroneves finishing second while the other Penske teammate, Juan Pablo Montoya got the win. There are no hard feelings between Power and Castroneves. "We've always gotten along, and I think that's because we're both free spirits," Castroneves said. "We both understand that on this team, your teammates are going to be part of your competition. You can't take it too seriously."
Iowa Speedway
The Iowa Speedway is a 7/8 mile oval and neither Power nor Castroneves has won. Both drivers have won the pole but failed to win the race. "Iowa is one of the hardest short tracks we go to," Power said. "Part of that is because of the speed — it's incredibly fast for a short track. You have to be serious and determined in your approach. It's definitely one of the biggest challenges we face every year."
IndyCar Predictions
I think Power can win this week and regain the points lead so I will take him even at the short IndyCar odds at the online sportsbook.
