Jordy Smith is the favorite to win the J-Bay Open in South Africa which runs from July 10th through July 21st. Smith has won this event twice and he really needs a kick start to his season as he is currently 11th in the standings after five events. Other contenders in South Africa should include Kelly Slater, Mick Fanning and Joel Parkinson. The current point's leader, Gabriel Medina is not among the favorites to win the J-Bay Open even though he has two wins this season.

Here is a look at the J-Bay Open and surfing predictions.

J-Bay Open

The J-Bay Open takes place at Eastern Cape, South Africa from July 10th through the 21st. It is the sixth event on the ASP World Championship Tour season. Jeffreys Bay was on the ASP WCT schedule from 1996-2011 but it was out of the rotation the past two years. "It's by far the best stop on the tour for quality of high performance surfing. It's arguably the best righthand point in the world." said two-time winner Jordy Smith.
