We’ve said it before and we will say it again, Costa Rica has come into the 2014 World Cup as the biggest underdog at better than 100-1 odds and now they have qualified to enter the quarter-finals.  This is indeed one of the biggest stories of this year’s World Cup.

Costa Rica beat Greece in a penalty shootout Sunday to reach the World Cup quarterfinals for the first time.

Costa Rica has more online sportsbooks than any other country in the world yet the draw was a winner for these bookies, all of whom were hoping in their hearts for a Tico win.

Michael Umana scored the decisive penalty as Costa Rica won the shootout 5-3 after the game ended 1-1 following extra time.

Gambling911.com watched the game from a New York City sports bar where 99.99% of those present were backing Costa Rica (no offense to the Greeks).
