South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham won in a landslide Tuesday to retain his long held seat, much to the disappointment of online gambling fans, most of whom were probably hoping for a Cantor-like defeat.  Virginia Republican Congressman and Majority Leader Eric Cantor lost his seat Tuesday in what was being touted as the biggest political campaign shocker in more than a century.

When South Carolina voters went to the polls Tuesday, Registered Republicans not only voted to keep Graham, they also got to cast their votes on some non-binding referendum questions. Republicans had two questions while the Democrats had three.

81% of registered Democrats voted for legalized gambling to help fund money for road repairs.

They also voted on whether state legislators, not Congress, should decide on legalizing Internet gambling in South Carolina.

Now enter Lindsey Graham, who co-authored a bill that would prohibit online gambling at the federal level even in states that have already legalized the activity such as New Jersey, Nevada and Delaware.
