Poker pro Sorel Mizzi last week made a prop bet that got plenty of notice, one in which he would swim in shark infested waters several miles to an island off Brazil’s Ipanema Beach.  And the results are in.

Mizzi did it……albeit with a little help.

He swam along side a support boat.

Fatigue, bad weather and swarming birds over head became an issue with just under half the trip completed.

From PokerStrategy.com:

After a twenty-minute stretch where he barely moved more than a few feet, Sorel eventually broke through the rough current and touched the island after more than three hours in the water.

The bet ended up paying $50,000.
