Dutchman Joran van der Sloot’s lawyer Maximo Altez confirmed that the convicted killer is set to marry while serving a 28-year prison sentence and he will become a father.

Van der Sloot was convicted of killing a 21-year-old female Peruvian student he met in a Lima casino in 2010.  He had been visiting Peru to follow the Latin American Poker Tour.

Altez said that the 26-year-old Dutchman and his Peruvian fiance have nearly completed legal arrangements to wed and that she is five months pregnant with a boy.

Altez said that Van der Sloot keeps busy teaching English to fellow inmates and is studying international business via a correspondence course offered by a Peruvian university.

Prior to the murder of Stephany Flores, Joran van der Sloot had long been a suspect in the 2005 disappearance of US teen Natalee Holloway in his native Aruba.
