The Borgata Casino will pay out $1,721,805 to those affected by a scandal earlier in the year in which fake chips were detected during the Borgata Winter Open.

That event was shut down after organizers discovered counterfeit chips had turned up.  Christian Lusardi, of Fayatteville, N.C. was later found to have sneaked the chips into the event then attempted to flush the fake chips down a toilet.

An investigation suggests that 2,143 players “may have been impacted”.  The casino has to pay back a $560 entry fee to each of the 2,143 participants.

The Borgata will also pay out $19,323 to each of the top 27 players who were still in the tournament when it was cancelled.

Lusardi has since been charged with theft and rigging a public contest.
