Timothy Robillard, 44, pleaded guilty Monday to one felony charge of running an illegal gambling operation.  The former Albany, New York corrections officer faces a year of conditional discharge and a $25,000 forfeiture of profits when sentenced in April.

Robillard and three other men from the Albany area have now pleaded guilty for their roles in the gambling ring.

Joseph Carucci, 68, of Albany and James Cerniglia, 47, and Christopher Socola, 42, of Clifton Park have each been charged with one year of conditional discharge.

Investigators say correction officers Robillard and Cerniglia were running a large, multi-state betting ring operated out of the Albany County Jail, in which the men were allegedly taking bets and making payoffs while on the job.

The four men were tied to a ring involving now defunct Legends Sports out of Panama City, Panama.  34 individuals were named in that sweeping 95-page FBI indictment

Carucci and Cerniglia forfeited a combined $20,000 of profits.

The probe into the gambling ring began in the former Drug Interdiction Unit, grew to include the FBI and Internal Revenue Service and led to authorities spending hundreds of hours eavesdropping as they built their case against what they call a major multimillion-dollar illegal gambling enterprise, according to the Times Union of Albany

WagerWeb.com ultimately assumed all liability for customers of Legends Sports.
