A onetime executive of the Golden Nugget and Wynn Resorts in Las Vegas has lost his bid for a Nevada gambling license after regulators rejected his application.

Tim Poster was deemed as “unsuitable”, a result of his involvement with online gambling.  He was also cited for having “hid evidence” and for his ties to former strip club owner with alleged mob connections, Rick Rizzolo.

Attorneys Mark Clayton and J.T. Moran III told Nevada Gaming board Chairman Peter Bernhard they had "extensive" discussions with Poster before he withdrew an appeal for a commission hearing, according to the Associated Press.

The board reviewed evidence suggesting Poster acted as an agent for an offshore sportsbook.  Agents typically collect and/or pay out funds to those living within the United States, a practice that is considered illegal in the Silver State.

Tom Breitling, the current CEO of Nevada's first licensed online gambling site Ultimate Poker, provided moral support on behalf of Poster as he plead his case in Nevada's capital of Carson City.

The rejection allows Poster to continue working in the gaming industry in a position that doesn’t require licensing, such as consulting.
