San Jose, Costa Rica – Americas Cardroom is giving players the power to call the shots in the marketing department. The US-friendly online poker site announced today that they're putting $5,000 on the table for players who can help come up with a name for their new progressive points race designed for sit & go players.
"We've been pretty focused on fine tuning our newest points race for sit & go players that we didn't have time to come up with a name," stated Michael Harris, spokesperson for Americas Cardroom. "So we figured we'd pay our players $5,000 through a facebook contest to get it all sorted out. Players looking to participate in the contest can access the application here."
The new Sit & Go Progressive Race will launch in the next few weeks. It uses a portion of all the marked sit & go and On Demand Tournament fees to fuel its jackpot, which will then award cash prizes and tournament entries to the players that rank in the leaderboard. In other words, it has absolutely no extra cost to the player.
For example, in a $10 + $1 Sit & Go or On-Demand tournament, $0.75 of the $1 fee will go to the house and $0.25 will go to the sit & go progressive jackpot. At the same time, players will earn points by playing at these special sit & go tournaments. At the end of each month, players who rank on the leaderboard will get rewarded with cash and tournament seats.
So what is the Facebook Contest all about?
Americas Cardroom has created a facebook application for the poker community so players can participate in a contest that will name this new sit & go Progressive Race.
The facebook contest has a viral component to it where players will have to share their suggested name with their facebook friends in order to get the most likes. The top 18 players with the most likes will win an entry into a $5,000 sit & go Tournament where all 18 players get paid. To suggest a name for the promotion, players must:
1) Like the official Americas Cardroom Facebook page.
2) Enter a name on the "Sit & Go Progressive Race Needs a Name" facebook application.
3) Share with their facebook friends.
The $5,000 Sit & Go for the top 18 participants will play on December 1st, 2013.
