Legislation proposed earlier this year could see New Jersey developing online gambling compacts with other states, said state Assemblyman John Amodeo durng a conference of gambling leaders and regulators Tuesday.

From The Press of Atlantic City:

The bill that could see action after November, Amodeo said, would allow the hardware and software involved in Internet gambling to be located outside of Atlantic City casinos, provided that the equipment is still within the resort's borders.

"Ultimately, we could see Las Vegas handle everything west of the Mississippi, and Atlantic City could handle everything east of the Mississippi," he said following his public remarks. "This is that big. It has that kind of potential."

Currently only those physically located within the state of New Jersey are permitted to gamble with online sites expected to launch the end of November.
