The Washington Redskins and the Green Bay  Packers are set to do battle on the gridiron this weekend, and people are already talking about the two sides, especially that of Green Bay. This game may fly under the radar in some markets, but it’s definitely going to be one that comes down to who can capitalize most on simple mistakes.

Current line: Green Bay Packers  - 7 ½ / Over & Under at 49 ½

Time:  Sunday, September 15, 1:00 pm (EST) FOX, NFL Red Zone

The 49ers taught the Packers a lesson last week, and if the Redskins took notice, they should have plenty of clues as to how to establish their run game, get their mobile quarterback moving, and how to contain Aaron Rodgers. That’s not to say that the Packers haven’t learned anything from their fight against a San Francisco team that seems to have had their number for some time now. Look for Rodgers to overcome some mistakes, and the defensive line to be quite heavy with the lumber. Big hits will definitely determine whether or not the offense on the Washington side can make things happen or not.

As with any match up, Green Bay is going to have to control the clock this time around, something that they didn’t do against the 49ers, which is why they ended up getting stunted towards the latter quarters. Washington has to capitalize here, if they establish a good run game, that is a big “if”. The team has struggled a bit to control things in terms of time, which is definitely something that they most likely worked on this week in practice.

Defensively, Green Bay may have some strong components, but their offensive line can be thwarted. If the O-Line reacts the same way they did in week 1, you can expect Jim Haslett to have a field day with blitzing the edges and getting to the quarterback often. The Redskins absolutely have to win this one, if they hope to topple the Packers overall. Without this leverage, the possibilities of a win are going to have to come to how often they can score, and that may not be a good thing.

The Match Up

Green Bay may focus on the air, with talented receivers out there, which opens up man coverage a bit, which is a risk that the Redskins may or may not take. If they take the risk, and they fail to contain Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and Jermichael Finely, look for the score to inflate to a lopsided victory for Green Bay. It’ll be interesting to see if the defense can handle the line ups that will no doubt confuse. All of that suffice that the Green Bay Packers at – 7 ½ makes sense, and the score may end up higher than 49 ½.

The Edge

Green Bay Packers  - 7 ½
