The Dolphins will have a test in front of them this weekend when they face off against the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts are looking to get a 2 and 0 start by rolling over the Dolphins, but analysts aren’t so sure as to which one is going to get favored here. The two teams look similar on paper, but there are some little things to take note of, if you’re looking for an overall edge in this game.
Current line: Indianapolis – 2 ½ / Over & Under at 43 ½
Time: Sunday, September 15, 1:00 pm (EST) CBS, NFL Red Zone
Brandon Weeden will tell you that the Dolphins have a good defense, one that can easily turn your optimism upside down, just like they did to him and the Browns in their routing of that team. The team look downright great against the Cleveland offense that just couldn’t get things together. On the flipside, we have to look at the Raiders and the Colts game where the Indianapolis team survived a serious game. Andrew Luck has proven that he can overcome some hits, and can lead the team, but this time they aren’t playing Oakland, they are playing a resurging Miami team that is even handed in their approach of the football.
If we go with last year’s status, we see that the Colts barely have an edge overall, and it was one of the better games for Andrew Luck, but the score was only 23 – 20. That isn’t exactly a sure thing for this year, as the Dolphins could have Luck’s number overall. It’s hard to determine whether or not the team has prepared for an Indianapolis team that looks very much like a contender for the playoffs, at least early on and on paper.
The Match Up:
The Colts offense will have their hands full with the Dolphins tricky defense. There are a lot of interesting match ups that will no doubt come to the forefront of this game, and for that reason, watch for the Dolphins to make this one interesting. This is not going to be a blow out, even if mistakes are made, but what you may see is one team emerge that has just enough gusto to get the W, but not by a whole lot. The Dolphins secondary has some injuries, and the Colts are nearly 100% healthy, which is why we’re going to have to go with the Colts at – 2 ½, and over 43 points.
