Gambling Top Stories: More Lock Poker Payouts, Hollywood Casino Damage Report

*Lock Poker Appears to be Resolving Processing Issues – More Lock Poker payouts were reported Saturday even for those who have been waiting since February.  The poker site has been working feverishly to bring on new payment processors. 

There has been some normalcy reported with payment requests made over the past two months.  A series of requests made back in February remained an issue, however, cash transfer method payouts with requests made during this month were arriving for many both yesterday and today. 

Some reports of Skrill payouts for those residing outside the US were now hitting within a month.

High volume US-facing online gambling sites have experienced intermittent prolonged processing issues as a result of prohibition passed in October of 2006, which in essence reduced the number of processors available. 

*Significant Damage and Roof Torn Off Hollywood Casino Outside St. Louis – Violent storms ravaged the St. Louis, Missouri area late Friday night.  One of the casualties was the Penn National owned Hollywood Casino in Maryland Heights.  Gambling911.com was among the first news outlets to confirm the casino had its roof torn off. Emergency management officials were assessing the damage.  Windows were also blown out of the establishment, according to patrons.  No injuries were reported however. 

*Illinois Gambling Expansion Dead For Now (Includes Provision for Online Gambling) - Rep. Bob Rita of Illinois declared a proposal to bring a casino to downtown Chicago dead for the spring session as legislators head for recess. 

“We have heard time and time again about all that is wrong with putting out an 11th-hour big gambling bill at the end of session. We want to take more time to get this right and go through it line-by-line to make sure we do it right,” said Rita, D-Blue Island, in a statement. “I’m announcing hearings for this summer to take the framework of this bill out around Illinois, get the feedback we need on what should be in there and push a responsible, comprehensive bill for the fall veto session.”

*British Gambling Addicts Total 500,000 - Seventy-three per cent of the adult population have gambled in the past year compared with 68% in 2007, according to a survey by the Gambling Commission.

The number of problem gamblers has risen since 2007, when the Gambling Act was coming into force, from 0.6% of the population to 0.9% – or 451,000.

Tourism Minister John Penrose said: ‘The increase in problem gambling is a direct result of Labour’s reckless Gambling Act. (Source:  Calculator.co.uk )
