Bitcoin Fears Loom in Wake of Liberty Reserve Indictment

With the shutdown of anonymous online currency payment processor Liberty Reserve Tuesday, questions are being raised as to whether the more popular – and some would argue, more legit – digital currency, Bitcoin, is next

From Forbes.com: Will prosecutors move on to shutting down Bitcoin (BTC)? After all the parallels between BTC and LR are strong — both are virtual currencies that use an exchange to convert legitimate currencies into electronic ones.

Patrick Murck, legal counsel for the Bitcoin Foundation, wants to avoid that comparison. As he told the Journal, “I think [the Liberty Reserve indictment] is just another giant, flashing warning light to bitcoin exchanges: If you’re not compliant, there are some serious risks, both at the federal and state levels.”

*World Series of Poker 2013 Kicks Off Today - The WSOP Main Event will be held from July 6 to July15 with the final to take place on November 4-5 but bracelet events kick off today (May 29) starting with the Casino Employees No Limit Hold’em with a $500 buy in.

“Facebook has stated in the Gaming Authority that they will comply with the Dutch law, which states that the promotion of illegal gambling is not allowed. Paul Tang, board member of the Gaming Authority, says that this is an important step in combating illegal and prevent the people and especially young people duped into participating in illegal gambling.”

*StanleyBet Threatens Suit Against Greek Government - British sports betting operator Stanleybet has threatened to sue Greece for lost revenue in a long-running legal battle over the monopoly of gaming firm OPAP.

*Boyd is Still a ‘Buy’ - In the last three months, Boyd has been up 95% and in the last year it's been up 69.4% - not a bad day at the office. It's been a great few months for owners of Boyd stock.

*Daytona Racino Construction Begins This Week – (Associated Press) - The Dayton Daily News reports that the $125 million Hollywood at Dayton Raceway is being built on 119 acres that was the site of an auto parts manufacturing plant. It's set to open in mid-2014.

The racino will feature harness racing plus 1,500 video lottery terminals, along with restaurants and food concessions.

*Heat are -7.5 Favorite for Game 5 of Exciting Eastern Conference ChampionshipThe line has opened at -7.5 in favor of Miami to cover the spread against Indiana in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Championship after the Pacers tied the series 2-2 Tuesday night.

The Pacers Roy Hibbert finished with 23 points and 12 rebounds. 

"We're never going to give up. We're relentless," Hibbert said after another big game. "All those guys in there, they believe we can win. No matter what all the analysts or whoever says anything, they count us out, those guys in the locker room were ready to play and we went out and played our hearts out.”
