Poker Pro Greg Raymer Leaves PPA Board Following Hooker Arrest

Poker pro Greg Raymer has announced he will no longer be serving on the Poker Players Alliance (PPA) board following last weekend’s highly publicized arrest for solicitation of a prostitute and attempting to engage in an unnatural sex act.

The winner of the 2004 World Series of Poker Main Event, Raymer alerted PPA Executive Director John Pappas of this decision on Wednesday.

He decided "that it is best for the PPA that he step away from his position on the Board while he deals with his legal and personal issues," PPA Executive Director John Pappas told PocketFives.com.

Pappas noted that Raymer will be eligible for future reinstatement should the Board deem it to be in the interest of the organization.

Pappas added that the PPA is "at a critical juncture in the fight for poker rights and we have to make sure side issues do not obscure focus from the main issue."

Raymer and five other men were nabbed at a Wake Forest, North Carolina hotel after responding to a Web solicitation for the services of a prostitute, who turned out to be an undercover cop.

Raymer posted the necessary $1,000 bond and was released immediately following his arrest. He will appear in court on April 18.
