Crown Ltd CEO Rowen Craigie has been named in an investigation into the alleged channelling of $US180 million in illicit gambling funds from Taiwan to Macau.

From the Sydney Morning Herald

It is understood that the investigation relates to fund transfers on behalf of high rollers looking to gamble at Crown's Macau joint venture, Melco Crown Entertainment.

Last week, Taiwanese regulators announced a probe into allegedly illegal transfers of gambling funds between Taiwan and Macau’s casinos by the Taiwanese branch of MCE International.

Crown declined to offer a comment Wednesday morning to the Herald, however, Melco Crown spokeswoman Maggie Ma said “the company will fully cooperate with the Taiwan authority on any present and future investigations that they may conduct".

Crown Casino is owned and operated by gambling mogul James Packer.
