A bill to legalize online gambling in the state of New Jersey is scheduled for full Assembly vote on December 17 and in the Senate on December 20.

The measure is widely anticipated to pass in both the Assembly and state Senate as a similar bill did so last year.

Governor Chris Christie had reservations about signing last year’s bill and instead opted to pull out his veto pen in the waning hours before a looming deadline.

This year should be different according to sources close to Gambling911.com.

“We believe he is fully on board and will sign this bill into law,” our source says.

New Jersey is already in a contentious legal battle with the professional sports leagues and NCAA over its intention to begin licensing sportsbooks in the state as early as next month.  Governor Christie signed into law a bill that would allow sports wagering in the Garden State.

Currently, only Nevada and Delaware have laws that legalize Internet gambling within their borders.  New Jersey representatives have made it clear they wish to pursue compacts with other states assuming such legislation is signed into law.

Sports wagering and online gambling are estimated to generate millions of dollars in revenue for a state that was ravaged by Super Storm Sandy in late October.
