Gambling911.com has an exclusive upcoming interview with someone very close to the situation on the ground in Nevada as it pertains to “real money” online poker regulation.  The individual in question is a CEO for one of the biggest gaming developers in the world, 3G Studios.

Late last year, Nevada approved “real money” online poker play within the state and has begun accepting applications from a few dozen potential licensees.

Many have asked the question:  Why saturate a market with a population of under 4 million with a few dozen operators all vying for what would ultimately end up being less than half that number (not counting visitors who might be more inclined to spend most of their time in a real casino as opposed to their hotel room playing Web poker).

The answer:  These operators all have bigger goals in mind.

Founder and CEO James Kosta may have provided a glimpse into what will likely be a state-by-state legalization process with Nevada at the forefront.  Mr. Kosta disclosed to Gambling911.com that there were at least 10 states currently in talks with Nevada to partner up in what will ultimately become a $13.4 billion industry in five years.

“Delaware has just approved online gambling  but now they are looking at it as they are a state with a population of only 947,000 people and they have to come up with $15 million a year for the regulation.  So people in the state are saying, ‘Why don’t we just partner with Nevada?’”

Kosta expressed some apprehensions with the federal push to legalize online poker.
