Iceland’s two biggest ISPs are considering blocking online gambling and porn websites, according to Mashable.com

Vodafone and Síminn, two of the country’s larget ISPs, are eyeing sites that feature x-rated material, gambling or other questionable content, it was reported on Wednesday.

Vodafone released a statement claiming that it was attempting, not to censor such sites, but rather to prevent malicious malware from latching onto end user computers.  Porn and gambling sites are said to sometimes be carriers of such viruses.  Residents of Iceland would only be able to access such websites by notifying their service providers in advance.

Earlier in the year, an Icelandic high court ordered ISPs to block access to a file sharing website based out of Sweden.
