The parent company of shuttered online poker and casino site Purple Lounge has appointed a liquidator, the UK firm of Chartered Accountants, Baker Tilly Restructuring and Recovery LLP.  A creditors meeting will be held July 23.

Parent company, Media Corp PLC announced the liquidation in late May with all staff being laid off.  Media Corp Chairman Phil Jackson claims Purple Lounge had “historical operational and financial failings”.

Furthermore, the parent company believes it “will (not) incur further liabilities in respect of Purple Lounge.”

Signs of trouble on the horizon at Media Corp and Purple Lounge first surfaced back in August with the shocking arrests involving the wife of Media Corp PLC Non-Executive Director Chris Gorman last August.   Gorman resigned from his post last month.  His wife was arrested for allegedly having oral sex with a black man in nightclub's public bathroom as her husband looked on.
