US GOP Presidential candidate and supporter of legalized online gambling, Ron Paul, has won the most delegates in both Nevada and Main, it was revealed on Sunday.

The results gave the Texas congressman last state victories even with Mitt Romney’s nomination all but sealed.

"It's certainly a significant victory," said Jim Azzola of South Portland, Cumberland County coordinator for Paul.

Paul, the last challenger to remain in the contest, finished a close second behind Romney in Maine's GOP caucuses in February, but those results were nonbinding.

22 delegates were taken in the state of Nevada.

Romney won Nevada's caucus in February with half of the vote. Under party rules adopted last fall, Romney was to get 20 of Nevada's 28 delegates for the national convention, and Paul was to get eight.

Paul backers say delegates will abide by those rules in the first round of balloting at the national convention in Tampa.

It remains to be seen whether the Romney campaign or Republican National Committee will challenge Nevada's delegate results.

Paul, in the past, has co-sponsored bills with the likes of Democrat Barney Frank that would legalize Internet gambling in the US.
