It is a concern that has gripped the online poker community ever since US authorities cracked down on the one time second largest online poker company, Full Tilt Poker, exactly one year ago this week.

Are player funds segregated?

Full Tilt Poker’s we came to find out, were not.

FTP is yet to pay back a single customer since numerous funds belonging to the company were froze by US authorities.

There was indeed some good that came out of those seizures.

PokerStars, the world’s largest online poker firm, was among those sites targeted during the multi-years probe into money laundering and bank fraud.

But as we came to find out, Stars player accounts were indeed segregated.  This was evident when all US players accounts were made whole within a month of the April 15, 2012 indictments.

So what about those online poker sites that still cater to the North American player base, sites such as the flagship Merge Gaming online card room, Carbon Poker?

A Carbon Poker spokesperson confirmed the segregated funds at online poker site Carbon.

“All player funds at Carbon Poker are segregated and always have been.”
