US Masters Golf Betting a Hit

Gambling911.com can reveal that its US Masters Golf betting traffic for 2012 is way above expectations, quite possibly a result of the big name recognition involving both Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

“Golf got a serious makeover a few years back when Tiger Woods entered the scene, now we have Rory (McIlroy) and hopefully a female golfer or two soon,” notes Payton O’Brien, Senior Editor of the Gambling911.com website.  “We’ve had significant traffic for search terms related to the US Masters and betting odds”.

Online betting sites like WagerWeb.com were offering Woods and McIlroy with favorable payout odds of +450 and +550, respectively.

“That’s another thing,” noted O’Brien.  “Here you have two big name players as essentially the co-favorites, offering a potential payout of between $450 and $550 on a $100 bet.”

Golf is easy to wager on since one is just betting on the future odds of a contender to win or wagering matchups between two golfers.  The payout odds are always substantial with the exception of Woods in years past, who might occasionally be listed in the minus category (meaning you would have to bet perhaps $110 to win $100).

Woods, McIlroy and Phil Mickelson will get the most action, however, some online sportsbooks do offer the “field” option, which includes any golfer not specifically mentioned.

WagerWeb.com offers odds on pretty much everyone, with the biggest long shots being Robert Garrigus and Mark Wilson, both of whom would pay out $20,000 on a $100 bet.
