There has been plenty of hoopla surrounding casino magnate billionaire Sheldon Adelson’s multiple donations to a Newt Gingrich super PAC.  Now fellow Republican, Senator John McCain, has suggested such cash infusions by Adelson have only served to harm the Gingrich Presidential campaign, which is now all but dead.

"When you have a Las Vegas casino mogul - by the way, who gets part of his money from Macao pouring $20 million into a campaign, obviously that drives up people's unfavorables," McCain said.

Adelson, the 7th richest man in the United States, heads up Sands of Las Vegas and owns properties in the Asian gambling Mecca of Macau.

When it comes to delegate count for the GOP nomination to become US President, Gingrich is essentially mathematically eliminated from the equation.  Still, the former Speaker of the House has chosen to remain in the race, prompting many to suggest he can do so as long as Adelson keeps pumping money into his fledgling campaign.

"No. I'm happy to have somebody who cares passionately about the Iranian nuclear weapon, and someone who cares passionately about the survival of Israel, independently support me," Gingrich said on CBS's "This Morning" when asked about Adelson’s donations.

The casino magnate is rumored to have written his last check to the former Speaker.
