For the most part, Saturday’s NCAA Basketball games were uneventful in terms of upsets, albeit Virginia Commonwealth nearly pulled off another stunner before falling to Indiana by two points.

Number 4 seeded Wisconsin just barely took care of business, beating number 5 seed Vanderbilt by a score of 60-57.

The Badgers defense held John Jenkins and Jeffery Taylor to 13 and 9 points, respectively.

Wisconsin (26-9) was led by Jordan Taylor with 14 points while getting 12 from Jared Berggren, 11 points each from Ryan Evans and reserve Ben Brust and 10 from Mike Bruesewitz.

Number one seed Syracuse coasted into the Sweet 16 with a statement win over number 8 seeded Kansas State, the final score 75-59.

Scoop Jardine had 16 points and 8 assists while Dion Waiters contributed 18 points and James Southerland scored 15 for the Orange, who will come into the Sweet 16 with just two losses so far this season.

"I think we picked it up on both ends of the floor. Especially on the defensive end, we got what we wanted. We were able to get transition baskets," said Kris Joseph of Syracuse following his team’s win over Kansas State.  Joseph had 11 points in the game. "There was a lot of space on the offensive end. We got open shots, open looks; we knocked 'em down. This is the way I like us to play. Everyone was involved. The scoring balance -- it was really balanced tonight. That's how we're supposed to play."

Betting on the 2012 Sweet 16 was now available on games already scheduled at press time.
