BDO Darts World Championship 2012 betting odds had Martin Adams as the 2 to 1 favorite to win but punters had a different mindset by backing Christian Kist.
Kist of the Netherlands followed up his shock first-round win against Jan Dekker with an impressive 4-2 triumph over compatriot Geert de Vos.
The event is likely to gain a stronger following over the coming years now that it is coming to ESPN. After being broadcast exclusively on the BBC in the UK for 34 years, ESPN will begin sharing coverage of the tournament with them from 2012. Dutch television station SBS6 broadcasted the event since 1998, as Dutch players have become more prominent in the world game. SBS6's contract to cover the event ran until 2008.
