After being broadcast exclusively on the BBC in the UK for 34 years, ESPN will begin sharing coverage of the tournament with them from 2012. Dutch television station SBS6 broadcasted the event since 1998, as Dutch players have become more prominent in the world game. SBS6's contract to cover the event ran until 2008.
