Sources within the online gambling community have advised Gambling911.com that outgoing Arizona Republican Senator Jon Kyl is working hard to re-enforce his Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act (UIGEA) through amended legislation that would help loosen the grip over licensed online poker sites in the US.

“A lot of his constituents were not pleased with what Kyl did in 2006,” our source tells us.

Last year, Gambling911.com sources broke the story that Harry Reid would be introducing an Internet poker bill one month prior to the Senate Leader’s official announcement in December.

What the Senator did was help pass UIGEA, a law he co-authored that prohibited most forms of online gambling in the United States, including Internet poker.  The banking sector, however, was left with having to police offshore poker sites that continue to embrace US customers while Vegas bigwigs have lost out on major money making opportunities.  The end result is that Kyl is now frowned upon in many key circles.

Over the past year the Arizona Senator has suggested he can live with regulation of the Internet poker in the US.  The New York Post earlier this month reported that Kyl and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid were looking to push through new legislation that would ultimately allow for licensed online poker sites to operate freely in the States while enhancing measures that would prohibit underage gambling and the capacity for cheating.

Gambling911.com has also learned that one of Las Vegas’ most established casino moguls is in discussions with a big name poker pro to develop a new online poker venture.
