New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has refused to come forward and endorse legalized sports betting in the state.  Residents of the state will be able to vote to allow legalized sports betting on Election Day November 8.

Could Christie’s reluctance have something to do with the state playing host to an upcoming Super Bowl?

The National Football League has long opposed legalized sports betting.

A previous bill was given the last minute heave ho by Christie back in March.  State Senator Raymond Lesniak reintroduced his measure last month.

Here’s the curious thing about Christie’s reluctance:  Back when he was running for Governor against Jon Corzine, Christie went on the Boomer Esiason & Craig Carton show on WFAN sports talk radio, and when he was asked by Boomer if he supported sports betting in NJ (because by this time Lesniak's legislation and a lawsuit by the Interactive Media Entertainment & Gaming Association had both been introduced), Christie said “Absolutely, it should be legal.”
