The American Gaming Association was quick to capitalize on the Full Tilt Poker situation that came to a full head on Tuesday where US Feds named three professional poker players associated with the companies as part of an amended complaint.
The US Attorneys Office in the Southern District of New York allege Chris Ferguson, Howard Lederer and another individual associated with Full Tilt Poker were part of an elaborate “ponzi scheme” where players funds were used to pay multi million dollar salaries.
The AGA released a well-timed video that was quick to point out the “evils” of so-called “illegal poker”. The video is appropriately titled (depending on how you look at things) “Online Poker: The Wild West”. It is in obvious reference to Full Tilt Poker.

Though plenty corny, it’s possibly the slickest representation of all the talking points certain poker people have been refining and pushing for the past several years — and yet it’s kinda dumbed down enough for legislators to see the probablility of looking kinda stupid (and un-Tea Partyish if they’re Republican) should they ignore this 2011 opportunity to re-Americanize online poker.
The AGA is aggressively lobbying to legalize online poker while pushing for rules that would prohibit current operators who target US players from remaining in the market.
