South Point Casino in Las Vegas Jumps Into Online Poker Fray

Located in the Las Vegas Valley just minutes from The Strip, the South Point Hotel Casino and Spa might be the last property anyone would think of as jumping head first into the online gambling sector.  That’s exactly what they are about to do with the announcement that South Point will be offering its own Internet poker site.

The site in question will not allow cash play yet.  But it will be joining the massively popular Zen Gaming free-to-play online poker network based in the United States.  Many outlets view Zen Gaming as the firm most deeply entrenched in the American market.  A flick of the switch and Zen could begin offering “real cash” play as the US federal government permits.

South Point Casino owner Michael Gaughan told Gaming Today:  “This is an experiment for me,” Gaughan said. “I’m just getting my feet wet but I expect that down the line I am going to be applying for an intrastate license.”

Gaughan is backing Nevada’s efforts to legalize online poker and act as a hub for federal regulation.  Nevada already passed its bill to allow the industry to operate but is contingent upon the federal government passing such a measure into law.
