Worldwide online poker traffic fell nearly 1 percent last week despite the summer vacation period coming to an end.  This is typically a period where we see a dramatic rise in the number of players.  Six of the top ten Internet poker rooms did see increases, however, with an overall gain of 1.2 percent.

PokerScout.com noted that PokerStars had lost 2.4 percent of its traffic even with the annual World Championship of Online Poker getting underway yesterday, which last year resulted in a 1.8 percent increase.

Merge Gaming witnessed a 5 percent drop off and has fallen out of the top 10 making this on the second time a US-facing online poker room has not been featured among the top 10 largest rooms in the world.  Merge, Cake Poker and Bodog all remain among the top 20.
